Every year Pantone designates a color of the year. 2016 is special, in that for the first time, they have designated two colors, Rose Quartz and Serenity. These two colors blend warmth and coolness splendidly together and are rather eye catching while maintaining a soft feel.
The PANTONE® name is known worldwide as the standard language for color communication from designer to manufacturer to retailer to customer. -Pantone.com
“The complexity of the logic behind Color of the Year is greater than interior design or fashion — it’s a forecast, a reflection of what’s happening in the world,” explained Ron Potesky, senior VP and general manager at Pantone. “These colors were seen together almost like two sides of a coin — they were showing up in many different places together.” -AdAge
These light tones are so lovely and reminiscent of the sunset and the sea. I find them non-intrusive and delicate, and they pair so well with many colors while maintaining their soft vibrancy. Their warmth and coolness offers a duality and balance so perfectly interwoven, that it just works. I love this combo and find it perfect for spring and summer.
