Let’s enjoy the natural light! Clean them from the inside and out. You can buy an attachment for your hose to spray the outdoors for those hard to reach windows! Wipe the windows and panes from the inside. I’m sure you’ll find some dirt and dust accumulated from the dark months. You’ll instantly create a sense of freshness. This is also the perfect time to take down all those curtains and give them a good wash! You know they are full of dust and allergens. If you have blinds then you really have to get in there!  Let’s get rid of all that mess so when the air is warm enough to open up those windows, you won’t risk blowing all that lingering dust around.

Clean out the closets! Get all your winter wear and accessories (make sure it’s clean) pack it up and get it out the way. Make some room for your spring and summer clothing and other items you might need. Get all those hats, winter coats, mittens, ski supplies, and pack them up in the garage or other storage area. Be prepared to throw out what doesn’t fit or items you don’t need. You don’t need to clutter up space for unused items. Don’t be a hoarder! Consider donating those items you don’t longer need.

Get out the duster! After you clean out the closets, walk around with a duster and get cleaning. Do behind all those picture frames and other hidden areas. Clean the back of your TV, stereos and other electronics that have been neglected. No shortcuts! Go through all the rooms in the house and get rid of all that dust. Don’t forget the kitchen and get rid of anything you won’t be using in the cabinets as well.

Clean those floors! Whether you have wood, ceramic or carpets, you need to get them cleaned! Get out the vacuum, the mop or whatever your tool of choice and actually move the furniture! If you have carpets you might consider renting a commercial vacuum or hire someone to come in and give them a good cleaning! Don’t forget to look for some money saving coupons. It doesn’t need to cost an arm or a leg to get the job done.

As you start clearing out the dust, clutter and curtains, you will hopefully be motivated and inspired to go even further! If not, at least you tackled some major cleaning. Either way, enjoy the season of new beginnings!
