Sixteenth Annual Huntington Tulip Festival

The Town of Huntington’s Annual Tulip Festival will take place on Sunday,

May 1, 2016 from 11AM – 4PM in Heckscher Park in Huntington. 

The Tulip Festival, now in its sixteenth year, was founded by Councilman Mark Cuthbertson and organized by the Town of Huntington, with Chief Festival Sponsorship support from Astoria Bank.  The free festival will have children’s activity booths and live performances on the Chapin Rainbow stage, presented courtesy of the Huntington Arts Council.

One of Long Island’s favorite traditions, the Hofstra University Dutch Festival, will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016. In time for its 33rd year, the Hofstra Dutch Family Festival is going through a reinvention with more emphasis on family activities and community services. As always, enjoy the annual tulip display, music and theater performances, art exhibits and demonstrations, and carnival games.

The festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Visit the Holocaust Museum on Long Island 

In observation of Holocaust remembrance day on May 5, you can visit this Long Island museum.

The Mission of the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County is to teach the history of the Holocaust and its lessons through education and community outreach. We teach about the dangers of antisemitism, racism, bullying and all other manifestations of intolerance. We promote resistance to prejudice and advocate respect for every human being.

Cinco de Mayo

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with some good food and good people, get out and enjoy some good Mexican fare.

(Cinco del Mayo is observed to commemorate the Mexican army’s unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín.)

Shop at your local florist for a beautiful bouquet or buy her a plant or other special gift.  There are multiple ways you can celebrate, but most importantly, show her you care. Jones Beach Air Show 2016

The weekend of May 27-28.

The Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach is one of the largest events on Long Island. Kicking off every Memorial Day Weekend, this event attracts thousands of Long Islanders to our beautiful South Shore beaches to celebrate the beginning of summer, and shine a light on military families as well as honoring those who serve our country. For our 13th year, we are excited to welcome back the United States Navy Blue Angels, and many other world-class military and civilian performers who are sure to excite and thrill the community with high flying stunts and gravity maneuvers that never disappoint. We look forward to seeing you all in May for what is shaping up to be our biggest show to date!
